The VLC media player is in dire need of a competent developper to maintain =
the=20
Win32 port. Your task will include thrilling stuff such as:

=2D Dealing with obscure bug reports, for Win32 users are the least=20
debug-literate, and the Win32 port is the least debug-friendly.
=2D Having to develop on a separate operating system (Linux), or
=2D Using an horribly slow build platform (Cygwin) whose toolchain breaks e=
very=20
now and then for no obvious reasons.
=2D Maintaining the Internet Explorer/ActiveX plugin even if this is not yo=
ur=20
own browser of choice.
=2D Supporting old versions of the system run-time and well as new one usin=
g=20
plenty of weak linking source code constructs.
=2D Fixing lots of bugs in the existing Win32 portability layer.
=2D Reimplementing POSIX-minded functions into Win32 API.
=2D Be ridiculed by fellow developpers for using a Microsoft operating syst=
em.

Of course, you are expected to do this for free. Also, you will have to=20
acquire the testing hardware and software by yourself if need be.

Sadomasoch^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^HCandidates can start submitting source code=20
patches at vlc-devel@videolan.org
